Fall Reflections
Welcome Autumn
With the official start of Fall last weekend, it feels like the season is already turning more colorful—and not just because of the leaves. We've said goodbye to those beach days and barbeques and jumped right back into the business of the season. Between college football Saturdays, making big pots of soup, and visiting my daughter for Parents Weekend, it's all part of the fun! Fall is one of my favorite times of year, and this week's Sage Space is all about embracing the season as a time to refresh. Sweater weather, anyone?

This week: About Fall
The Symbolic Meaning of Fall
Fall, or autumn, is often symbolically associated with change, maturity, and reflection. It represents the transition from the abundance and energy of summer to the quieter, more introspective winter. Despite being a time of transition, the colors and crispness of the season can feel like a fresh start, suggesting that even in endings, there is the potential for new beginnings.
Metaphorically Speaking
Here are some of the topics you can ponder as Fall begins.
Harvest Abundance: Fall is traditionally the time of harvest, symbolizing reaping the rewards of hard work and taking stock of what has been achieved. It's a time of abundance and gratitude for the fruits of labor.
Letting Go and Release: Just as trees shed their leaves, fall represents letting go of things that no longer serve us, clearing space for new growth. It’s a time to release attachments that may not serve us and embrace change.
Transition and Preparation: Fall is a transitional season, signaling the end of one phase and the beginning of another. It encourages preparation for the colder, quieter months of winter, both practically and emotionally.
Maturity and Wisdom: As the later stage in the yearly cycle, fall symbolizes maturity, wisdom, and reflection on the journey of life. It’s a great time for introspection and contemplation.
Do any of this resonate with how you're experiencing the season right now?
Fall Into Reflection
Consider taking 5 minutes today to be still and take a few breaths. Reflect on a few things you have learned this year, what memories come forth into your heart. What thoughts and activities have worked for you and what would you like to change? How can you prepare for busier times ahead? This brief reflection could help synch you with the maturity of the season. And of course, the natural Wisdom of Fall is something that we can all wholeheartedly embrace!
Quote of the Day
